The name of this blog is taken from an annual greeting that comes to me from Greta Crosby, minister emerita of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Wichita. Greta invents a new title for her seasonal missives each year, and I found this one memorably poetic. Flinders are tiny fragments of something, bits and pieces too numerous to count, as the words and images of a life passing by. Winter, of course, is the season of Greta’s correspondences, but I am taking considerable poetic license and construing it to symbolize the “wintry” domain of digitized life, frozen, as it were, into the binary of ones and zeros.
